Shedding light on a former WWII office

This luxury apartment in the centre of London’s Mayfair had evidently been the office for someone in the US government or armed forces during WWII. In the corners of one of the rooms were American eagle emblems and when the roof was inspected the words “VJ Day” were found scratched into the lead flashing.

Bespoke skylight, surround and integral lighting

Moxley Architects designed the new interior and much of our work was renovation; the stone and leaded windows were repaired and the panelling was restored. In some places, where the panelling was in particularly bad condition, our craftsmen recreated it. Grangewood also installed the huge skylight, as well as creating its surround and integral lighting.

Original features were retained in a contemporary refit
